Honouring Master Shridhar Ji and Three Years of Dedication to Health and Wellbeing at Aarogyam UK CIC
Some of the most meaningful achievements begin with a simple decision — to show up, take the first step and continue.
Three years ago, Aarogyam UK CIC began a journey of regular Tai Chi and Qigong practice under the guidance of Master Shridhar Ji, bringing together individuals who shared a common interest in improving their physical wellbeing, developing greater body awareness and discovering the benefits of mindful movement.
What began as a community activity has grown into something much more significant: a sustained practice built on consistency, participation, mutual encouragement and a shared commitment to healthier living.
Today, as we celebrate three years of Tai Chi and Qigong at Aarogyam UK CIC, we recognise not only the passage of time but also the dedication, relationships and collective achievements that have shaped this journey.
This milestone belongs to Master Shridhar Ji and every community member who has contributed to making these sessions a meaningful part of everyday life.
Beyond Exercise: Discovering the Value of Mindful Movement
Tai Chi and Qigong are traditional Chinese mind–body practices that combine controlled movements, postural awareness, breathing and focused attention.
Although rooted in longstanding traditions, these practices have increasingly attracted scientific interest for their potential contributions to physical function and wellbeing.
Research suggests that appropriately adapted Tai Chi programmes can support balance, functional mobility and physical confidence, particularly among older adults. Studies have also explored potential benefits for psychological wellbeing, quality of life and certain long-term health conditions, although the strength of evidence varies.
At Aarogyam, our emphasis has always been on making movement approachable and sustainable.
Through Master Shridhar Ji’s guidance, participants have been encouraged to explore movement at their own pace, develop awareness of their physical abilities and establish regular habits that support everyday wellbeing.
Rather than focusing solely on physical performance, our sessions encourage a broader relationship with movement — one that values patience, attention, gradual progress and consistency.
We believe that meaningful progress is not always measured by how much we can do, but also by our willingness to continue practising.
The Achievement of Consistency: Building a Community That Keeps Moving
One of the most significant aspects of our three-year journey has been the continuity of participation.
Establishing healthy routines can be challenging. Work commitments, family responsibilities, changing circumstances and individual health difficulties often make it difficult to maintain regular physical activity.
Yet, through shared encouragement and accessible online sessions, our Tai Chi community has continued to come together.
Over time, these sessions have become more than scheduled exercise activities. They have created opportunities for connection, learning, reflection and mutual motivation.
Participants have had the opportunity to develop familiarity with movements, become more confident in their practice and experience the value of belonging to a supportive group.
This consistency is particularly meaningful within a community health initiative.
While individual experiences and outcomes naturally differ, sustained participation demonstrates what can be achieved when people are given accessible opportunities, supportive guidance and a welcoming environment.
Our greatest success is not simply that Tai Chi has continued for three years. It is that we have created a community in which people continue to return, participate and encourage one another.
Honouring Master Shridhar Ji: Three Years of Dedication and Guidance
At the heart of this journey has been the dedication of Master Shridhar Ji.
For three years, his commitment to teaching and sharing Tai Chi and Qigong has helped establish a consistent and welcoming practice within Aarogyam.
His approach has encouraged participants to recognise the importance of gradual learning, mindful movement and regular practice.
Teaching movement within a diverse community requires more than technical knowledge. It requires patience, adaptability, encouragement and an understanding that individuals begin their journeys with different abilities, experiences and needs.
Master Shridhar Ji’s continued contribution reflects these important qualities.
His dedication has helped make traditional movement practices accessible to individuals who may otherwise have had limited opportunities to explore them.
As we celebrate this anniversary, we extend our heartfelt appreciation for his time, generosity, consistency and commitment to the wellbeing of our members.
Thank you, Master Shridhar Ji, for three years of teaching, encouragement and unwavering support.
Looking Ahead: Continuing Our Journey Together
As we celebrate this milestone, we also look towards the future.
Aarogyam remains committed to encouraging accessible physical activity, meaningful community participation and sustainable approaches to everyday wellbeing. Tai Chi and Qigong will continue to form an important part of this commitment.
We hope to build on the foundations established over the past three years by encouraging continued participation, welcoming new members and supporting opportunities for shared learning.
Our vision is to make movement something that people can explore and enjoy throughout different stages of life. We recognise that every individual has different abilities and circumstances, and that appropriate movement practices should be adapted to personal needs.
Through supportive instruction and a welcoming community environment, we hope to encourage more individuals to discover the value of consistent, mindful physical activity.
